Paying university fees can be a tedious and time-consuming process, involving long lines and inconvenience. Fortunately, Orange Money Cameroon SA has introduced innovative solutions to simplify this process.
By Monique OMAM
On December 17, 2024, Orange Money Cameroon SA and the University of Yaoundé 1 signed a partnership agreement, offering students from various faculties a convenient payment option through Orange Money’s electronic platform, accessible regardless of their network. This two-year renewable contract aims to alleviate stress and security concerns associated with the previous registration process. Students previously carried cash, making them vulnerable to theft. Dian Ntouma, student in Biochemistry notes, “Handling large amounts of money can be overwhelming, especially during the return to school period”. The new system allows students to pay fees securely from their accounts, saving time and energy. To pay, students can follow the link: University of Yaoundé1 https://mytouchpoint.net/universitedeyaounde1 After opening the link, students should enter required information, starting with their matricule number and other necessary details. For students with non-Orange network SIM cards, the Orange Money Africa mobile app is available on App Store or Google Store. Once downloaded, students can create an Orange Money account and start using it immediately. Student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, appreciating the convenience and security offered by the new payment method.

“I greatly appreciate this new method”
“I am just receiving the news since I have not been on campus recently, so I haven’t observed any changes yet. However, I greatly appreciate this new method. It’s a great innovation; I hope it will allow us to pay tuition fees conveniently, regardless of our location and network”.
Mathieu Etoa, Student in Tourism and Hotel Management
“I plan to use it for my tuition fees next time”.
“I am familiar with the previous payment method, which relied on Express Union. That process was tedious and stressful, involving long lines and sometimes, theft. I welcome this initiative and plan to use it for my tuition fees next time. I hope it will be time-saving, energy-efficient, and cost-effective”.
Jovial Sob, Geography Student
“I prefer the previous method”
“As a geography student at FALSH, I prefer the former method. I’m accustomed to paying on-site and receiving a physical receipt. Many people say the mobile platforms are safe and secure. However, I’m not interested in switching to the new system. I remain skeptical and would prefer to stick with the former method”.
