Mfongui Mbegnou Idelphonce, Chief Executive Officer, CEO of” LE TIKTOKEUR” store in Yaounde, has carved a niche for himself in the bustling markets of Yaoundé. With locations opposite the Ngoa-Ekele High School and in Mokolo, his entrepreneurial journey started in 2021 while he was still a student.
A former student of the University of Dschang, where he earned a Masters I in Sciences, Mfongui Mbegnou faced challenges in balancing academics and entrepreneurship. His pursuit of a Master 2 at the University of Yaoundé 1 was driven by a desire for better research opportunities. Upon arriving in Yaoundé, he began his entrepreneurial venture by selling shoes before working with an older brother at the Mokolo market in Yaounde to be able to raise funds and start a befitting job of his own.
However, his ambition to be self-employed led him to become a street vendor of electronic accessories, navigating various markets on foot. In 2021, fortune smiled upon him when he secured a location within the campus of the University of Yaounde I, marking a significant turning point in his business. Despite the challenges of commuting from Soa in the outskirt of Yaounde to Ngoa-Ekele on a daily basis, he persevered and found accommodation near the campus. By 2022, inspired by the influence of TikTok, he rebranded his business as “LE TIKTOKEUR”, focusing on essential gadgets for content creation.”
After seeing the high needs of young people, I decided to make it realistic” he tells The National Post. Building a loyal clientele was not without its hurdles. Initially, gaining trust was difficult, but Mfongui Mbegnou’s commitment to high-quality products and competitive pricing gradually won over customers. His dedication and discipline have since enabled him to expand, opening a second store in Mokolo market, prominently displaying the name “LE TIKTOKEUR”. To aspiring young entrepreneurs, Mfongui Mbegnou emphasizes the importance of belief in one’s vision, discipline, hard work, and perseverance. His journey serves as an inspiring reminder that success often comes to those who refuse to give up.
