The University of Buea, UB, has committed to mentoring three private higher education institutions, reinforcing its leadership in the academic sector. This partnership was formalized during the signing of Framework and Specific Agreements on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. The ceremony, held at the University of Buea, marked the beginning of a strategic collaboration between UB and Maflekumen Higher Institute of Health Sciences, Royal Academy Higher Institute of Health Sciences, and Redemption Higher Institute of Biomedical and Management Sciences.
The Presidents of the three private institutions pledged to uphold UB’s high standards, particularly in the areas of academic excellence and quality assurance. This partnership is set to enhance the educational experience for students across these institutions by aligning them with UB’s well-established reputation for academic rigor. Professor Ngomo Horace Manga, Vice Chancellor of UB, emphasized the core values of honesty and transparency as key elements that have placed UB at the forefront of the higher education space in Cameroon. In his address, he assured the Presidents of the three institutions, saying, “UB will be very faithful in keeping to the terms of this partnership.”
Mr. ATEUFACK Arnold, representing the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, was present to witness the signing ceremony. He expressed his congratulations to the institutions involved and highlighted the obligations they would need to meet before they can begin recruiting students. The senior staff at the Directorate of Private Higher Education also attended, underscoring the significance of this collaboration. The event was attended by several key officials from UB, including Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the Registrar, and heads of establishments involved in the mentorship program, such as the College of Technology and the Faculties of Education, Health Sciences, and Social and Management Sciences. This mentorship agreement is expected to foster an environment of academic growth and development, ensuring that the standards set by UB will guide these institutions toward excellence in higher education.
