The trainer leaves the club after losing eight of his 13 Elite One matches in charge of the North West Region outfit this season.
The head coach of Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda, Theodore Akosemoh has stepped down from his position. The tactician’s exit was made public yesterday following a resignation letter he submitted to top management of the North West Region club at the end of Yong Sports Academy of Bamenda’s first division championship game with Stade Renard in Melong. “It is rather unfortunate that I cannot continue as Head of the Technical bench for reasons best known to me that I have decided not to make public. It was a difficult decision to make. But I have no choice,” a section of the trainer’s resignation letter which The National Post has seen, stated.
The trainer expressed his gratitude to the management of the club for what he described as an opportunity to “head the technical team of this honorable and emblematic club,”. He sent out similar messages to the club’s supporters and fans for their “relentless efforts to see that we move to higher heights.”. “Your criticisms and encouragements were a source of motivation. The experience gathered during my tenure as head of the technical bench cannot be overlooked,” the trainer added. Despite admitting the struggling state in which he is leaving the team in the MTN Elite One championship, the trainer said in the resignation letter that he is confident that his exit will give room for the club to bounce back and successfully avoid getting relegated by the end of the season. “I still have the conviction that given that the league is still open and there are still two rounds of matches before the end of the first round, YOSA still has 90% chances to be maintained in the Cameroon professional league 1 given the cream of players we have,” the coach said in his resignation.
Theodore Akosemoh’s exit means more than five coaches have either been sacked or have quitted their jobs since the start of the ongoing campaign in the first division football championship, the MTN Elite One. He joins a list that also includes three-time league winner, Bonaventure Djonkep who was sacked by Coton Sport of Garoua and Anicet Mbarga Foe who parted ways with Union of Douala.
