Scheduled for January 29, 2025, at the Advanced School of Mass Communication (ASMAC) will be a major conference under the theme: Shockvertising: Bad Buzz ou coup de genie organized by a good number of creative individuals at the Campus in room D4, at exactly 12 noon, the “Conference Õdace” is aims to explore the provocative realm of shockvertising.
Targeting approximately 700 students, this event promises to delve into the fine line between generating buzz and inciting controversy. The conference will kick off with a divers panel of experts who will share their insights including Mr. Chedjou Kamdem, a Social Media Manager, who will define shockvertising and discuss its various forms, alongside notable campaigns from Cameroon and beyond. Following him, Mr. Kisito Kameni, Director of Private Media Development at the Ministry of Communication, will outline the legal framework surrounding unconventional advertising in Cameroon, including specific regulations and potential penalties for non-compliance.
Mr. Charly Despote, a Marketing and Communication Strategist, will then share insights on crafting effective shockvertising campaigns, emphasizing creativity and strategic processes. And finally, Mme Viridiana Lome, Digital Marketing Manager at OK FOOD Cameroon, will address the impact of shockvertising on brand image and the associated risks of bad buzz, offering crisis management strategies.
Robert Pascal Bassassa (seasoned communicator will moderate all presentations, guiding discussions and ensuring a comprehensive exploration of the cause of gathering and a dynamic exchange of ideas on the controversial marketing. The conference provides a timely opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of this marketing technique and its implications for brands and society.
