In a recent statement, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea, UB, Prof Ngomo Horace Manga has confirmed that the state university is overseeing the certification process for ICT University graduates, watering down claims of illicit practices by the celebrated private institution.
Amid growing concerns over an alleged scam involving the ICT University, the University of Buea, UB issued a statement to refute the increasing worries on social media regarding the recognition of certificates issued by ICT University in Yaoundé, assuring the public that the certification process is underway.  In an official statement released on Tuesday, February 4, UB’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Ngomo Horace Manga, confirmed that the University of Buea is overseeing the certification process for ICT University graduates, following a formal agreement signed between the two institutions.
 Per the statement, under this agreement, finalized on March 14, 2023, UB serves as a mentor university to ICT University, ensuring that it meets both national and international standards in higher education. Prof Ngomo emphasized that the certification process is being handled with care and urged students to be patient while their files are being processed. According to reports, an insider at ICT University clarified that the agreement includes provisions for the recognition of certificates issued before the partnership was established. Citing Article 4, Subsection 4 of the agreement, the statement confirmed that all certificates and diplomas from ICT University, whether issued before or after the agreement, are fully recognized by UB.
The two institutions are working closely to implement the terms of their agreement with full transparency. Prof Ngomo reassured students and the public that any inquiries regarding certification should be directed to the administration of ICT University. Both UB and ICT University are committed to maintaining high standards in academic collaboration and ensuring that all graduates receive the recognition they deserve, the official added.
