Per media reports that The National Post has not been able to independently verify, the six persons were killed in the Kungfune neighborhood of the Pinying village on Sunday night breaking Monday. The reports say the lifeless bodies of the deceased were found shortly after gunshots were heard in the neighborhood.
Information from locals, per a report by Bamenda-based television, Star TV Bamenda, say the gunmen that are suspected to have carried out the killings were dressed in uniforms. Hectic days in Pinyin
The recent killing is one of several incidents that have happened in Pinyin in the last couple of days, particularly linked to the ongoing socio-political crisis which has in the last close to 10 years, virtually crippled the smooth flow of activities in the North West and South West regions. Last week, youth of Menka in Pinyin organized a march denouncing activities of separatist fighters in the village. The exercise ended with the killing of three separatist fighters, according to reports from local media. A few days after the protest, the lifeless body of a renowned driver was found on a Pinyin road with reports suggesting that the deceased biker, whose body contained bullet wounds, had been kidnapped and subsequently killed by separatist fighters after the denunciation from Pinyin youth days earlier.
The killing of the bike rider is believed to have triggered the recent incident that has led to the death of six young persons in the Pinyin village. By press time yesterday, authorities in the North West Region were still to come out with an official statement on the latest killing. Authorities in the region, led by the chief administrator of the zone, Governor Adolphe Lele L’Afrique have multiplied measures aimed at handling the separatist fighters in the region and their activities.
