From cassava fields to public contracts, Daayang Albert, a 28-year-old engineer from Cameroon, exemplifies the power of entrepreneurial spirit. With determination and a keen eye for opportunity, he has transformed a one hectare of cassava farm to 10 hectares.
A Polytechnic Engineer in Embedded Electronic Systems from the Tupuri ethnic group, Daayang didn’t limit himself to his field of study. Recognizing a lack of digitalization in secondary schools, he conceived Logie, a platform designed to bridge the gap between schools and parents. This innovative thinking extends to his other ventures. Browsing social media sparked the idea to import products from China, while his experience working for other companies fuelled his ambition to enter the public markets. His entrepreneurial journey began in 2019 with a modest one-hectare cassava farm. Today, he cultivates ten hectares, demonstrating consistent growth in the agricultural sector.
His foray into importation started with a mere 50,000 FCFA which he used to import 30 smart watches. Through strategic reinvestment of profits, his turnover in this sector has soared to approximately 2,000,000 FCFA. Daayang’s most impressive achievement lies in the public market sector like he explained. In just one year, his company secured significant contracts, including the construction of a primary school, the delivery of six pickup trucks, and the development of mini-drinking water supply systems. This success translated into a staggering turnover of nearly 95,000,000 FCFA. Daayang’s advice to unemployed youth is simple yet profound: take initiative. “No one will come to help you,” he states. “You must get up and look further than ever.”
He emphasizes setting clear measurable goals and remaining open to opportunities outside one’s specific field of study “This year, I want to have 2 million in my bank account,” and think about how to achieve that goal, It is not always about working in your field of study but being open to opportunities that come your way. He further encourages aspiring entrepreneurs to seek inspiration and knowledge through reading books on entrepreneurship “An entrepreneur gets inspired by reading books and be flexible to adapt to any changes. Daayang Albert’s story reflects a powerful reminder that with hard work, vision, and a willingness to adapt, anyone can cultivate their own path to success.
