The initiative is aimed at promoting digital literacy among young people in a bid to help youth use the internet safely and decently.
The forum, which is being chaired by the Secretary General of Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, MINPOSTEL, Mohamadou Saoudi, aims to raise awareness about the importance of cyber security and share experiences among stakeholders. As part of the initiative, some young people in Yaoundé are being trained on the opportunities offered by the internet, with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence.
The training program and forum are timely, considering the growing need for digital skills and cyber security awareness in Cameroon. The internet has the potential to drive economic growth, improve access to education and healthcare, and enhance overall quality of life. However, it also poses significant risks, including cybercrime, data breaches, and online harassment. By promoting digital literacy and cyber security awareness, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is taking a crucial step towards ensuring that Cameroon’s youth are equipped to navigate the internet safely and responsibly.
The initiative is also aligned with the government’s broader efforts to promote digital development and economic growth in the country
